Today's college students are visual learners, social networkers,
Internet enthusiasts, optimists, multitaskers, gadget fanatics, and
inductive learners. Their learning styles and modes of
interaction are not in sync with the traditional classrooms and lecture
halls found throughout American higher education. National
systems that measure the levels of engagement between student and
faculty are strongly correlated with the student success. Yet, many
young students are becoming disengaged from the very learning community
colleges and universities have to offer.
Can we afford to risk the success of our future students? What else can
higher education do to enhance student learning and thus student
success? We propose using space known as Learning Studios which can
facilitate engagement between students and faculty and thereby enhance
student success!
